WELCOME

Thank you for visiting our Assumption College Rayong website. We truly appreciate your interest in our school, especially if you are considering applying to join us as a native English speaker. Our email for application is: [email protected]

Our postal address is Assumption College Rayong, 131 Sukumvit Road, Tambon Noen Phra, Muang Rayong 21000, Thailand, where completed applications may also be sent. Our contact person is Ms. Wansakarn Prasertsuk, Human Resources Officer for international staff.

Currently, we have one vacancy in kindergarten that might best suit a female applicant. Other positions come up regularly, so do let us know of your general interests in teaching at our school.

ACR is a mixed school with over three thousand students, beginning in kindergarten and then to our primary and secondary sections, going right through to the end of high school graduation. ACR is very popular with Thai parents and is known widely in Rayong City and beyond for its academic excellence and its secure, happy, and caring atmosphere.

We believe in a student-centred and enquiry-based approach to learning. We follow the Thai National Curriculum but supplement this with a whole variety of other enriching additions. These include the University of Cambridge English Tests at primary and secondary levels. We are a highly respected center for these Cambridge Tests, which include Young Learners, KET, PET, FCE, and IELTS training.

As an integral part of our enrichment ethos, we have about 60 native and near-native English-speaking foreign staff who teach English, and also Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies through the medium of English. This is where you come in. Over the years, our foreign staff have included teachers from the USA, UK, EU, China, and the Philippines.

Our school is under the direction of the Gabrielite Brothers. They are a Catholic order who run schools worldwide, including Tanzania, India, Thailand, and as far away as Fiji. Most of our ACR students are from Buddhist families, with some Catholics. We have a total interfaith approach, and in addition to instruction and Mass for Catholics, monks come in regularly from the local temples to talk to Buddhist students and help them prepare for Buddhist festivals and teachings.

Likewise, our Thai staff are mostly Buddhists with some Catholics, and our foreign staff are made up of people from many faiths and none. You will be most welcome whatever your religious or social background. What we demand is excellent standard of English, a professional approach to your teaching and that you be a person of high moral character and integrity at all times, especially in your interactions with our students.

It is a requirement of Thai Education Law that all teaching staff are graduates. Education degrees are preferred and other degrees are accepted on certain conditions. Our ACR staff will give you all the help and support you need to learn on the job. You will quickly get into the swing of things and very soon feel at home in the classroom.

It is important to state categorically that, in line with Thai Law and our strict ACR safeguarding requirement, that all staff should be free from criminal convictions, as these relate to the care and protection of our students. You will be required to give strict written assurances in this regard. Any violations of this will lead to immediate dismissal. I am certain that you will appreciate and value the necessity of the firm policy.

If you think you fit the bill, then read below our Conditions of Service and complete our Application Form. Even though our present vacancies might not suit you, we are always on the lookout for new foreign staff to cater to for our students at all levels of the school, so do not be shy in contacting us.
